Hospital Foundation appoints Executive Director

3/6/2008 12:00:00 AM

Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that Nicole McCahon has been appointed as its new Executive Director.

Nicole is well-known in the community for her tremendous work with the foundation. In 2001 she joined Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation as a key member of the capital campaign fundraising team. She brings with her a wealth of experience in capital campaigning, annual giving, major gifts and special events.

“This is a great professional opportunity,” says Nicole. “I am committed to nurturing the existing relationships with donors and the community, and will continue to develop our successful fundraising programs to meet the ongoing needs of the hospital.”

Today’s announcement follows an extensive search that netted candidates from across the province. The candidates included those with experience in hospital fundraising and other health-related philanthropy.

“The Foundation selected Nicole because she has demonstrated her abilities in fundraising,” explains Kevin Wassegijig, foundation board member and chair of the foundation’s search committee. “Through her role as interim executive director she has demonstrated strong leadership abilities and established her commitment to our hospital and the community.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Nicole over the past seven years and at any task level Nicole has excelled”, adds foundation chair Gini Stringer. “I am confident with her professionalism, dedication, and positive attitude that she will do an excellent job in her role as executive director.”

A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Nicole attended Laurentian University and received a post-graduate diploma in Fundraising and Resource Development from Georgian College. She has been a speaker at various fundraising conferences, and is a volunteer with a variety of community organizations.

“I am humbled and invigorated by the honour to lead the Soldiers’ foundation team,” says Nicole. “Soldiers’ has a proud 100 year history and strong support throughout our community today. I am excited to be part of its future.”
