SMH actively seeking new board members

4/21/2008 12:00:00 AM

Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital will require four volunteer members for its Board of Directors for the ensuing year. Two current board members elected at our Special Meeting on October 23, 2007, and whose term will end this year, will be seeking re-election. These members are Tony Katarynych and Cliff Whitfield. In addition, two vacancies currently exist.

Advertisements seeking interested applicants will begin running in local newspapers this week. Applicants may apply either through the hospital’s nominating committee or by submitting their nominations signed by at least three members in good standing. All nominations must be received by Friday, May 23, 2008. However we appreciate receiving applications as soon as possible.

“The hospital is looking for dedicated volunteers to fill the vacancies and bring us to a full complement of 19 board members,” says Bob Middaugh, board chair. “Our Board of Directors is a dedicated group that is responsible for overseeing hospital governance. In addition to monthly board meetings, members are expected to serve on several board committees. They are also invited to represent the Board at various hospital and community events.”

The Annual General Meeting of the Corporation of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.
