Go Wild about South Africa

9/24/2008 12:00:00 AM

While African Safaris are known to deliver exotic, exclusive experiences, they often come with a large price tag: that is all about to change.

On Friday, October 3, 2008, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation brings Africa to Orillia with the 7th Annual Taste of South Africa Gala event at Casino Rama. This year’s gala brings foundation donors and guests the ultimate African safari experience: the thrill of encounters with wild animals, and a taste of the food and wine South Africa has to offer.

“For the past six years, the Orillia Soldiers’ Hospital Foundation has entertained our donors and friends with an annual gala where we have visited many regions around the world to sample the local food and wine,” remarks Dave Douse, chair of this year’s gala.

“This year is no exception, as the sights, tastes and sounds of South Africa can be experienced right here in your own backyard.  It is a great opportunity to get together with friends, savour the food and wine of South Africa and most importantly, contribute to the future of excellent health care at OSMH.”

Over the last six years, the annual gala has raised close to $300,000 for needed medical equipment at OSMH. All proceeds from this year’s event will support Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, which ensures that our community and patients receive the best possible care at our hospital.

“This is one of the most highly anticipated events within our community, and the only way to experience it is to make sure you are there in person,” adds Dave.

Join us for the trip of a lifetime and experience a night like no other, with live entertainment, silent auctions, and cocktails in a safari setting. The journey begins Friday, October 3, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the Silvernightingale Ballroom at Casino Rama. Tickets are $125. To reserve your seat call the Hospital Foundation office at (705) 325-6464 or email events@osmh.on.ca.

This is one travel deal you don’t want to miss!
