Welcome to Soldiers' / Regional Kidney Care Program

The Regional Kidney Care Program of Simcoe Muskoka is located at OSMH and has a full range of services for patients with kidney disease. The area we serve extends south to Alliston, north to Huntsville, east to Haliburton, and west to Collingwood.

The staff in our Kidney Care Clinic, Home Dialysis Unit and Hemodialysis Units work closely with the transplant hospitals in Toronto (Toronto General Hospital and St. Michael's Hospital) to make sure all patients who wish are referred for a kidney transplant.

Our team of nephrologists, nurses, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists and dialysis technologist’s work with patients, families, the community, the Kidney Foundation, teaching hospitals in Toronto and other major centre’s to ensure excellence in dialysis care.

Kidney Care Clinic

Offers pre-dialysis clinics and education sessions to help patients and families learn about kidney disease, how to stay healthy and what to do to delay the progress of their kidney disease. The Kidney Care Clinic also helps patients and families choose the best treatment when the time comes to start dialysis.

Home Dialysis Unit

Patients and families are taught how to manage every aspect of their Peritoneal Dialysis treatment at home. The Home Dialysis Unit offers close follow-up for all patients once they go home to ensure that they are able to manage their treatment at home.

Hemodialysis Unit

The program offers hemodialysis at the in-centre Hemodialysis Unit at OSMH and at 5 satellite hemodialysis units across Simcoe Muskoka: Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, Muskoka Algonquin Health Centre in Huntsville, and Georgian Bay General Hospital in Penetanguishene.
