Welcome to Soldiers' / Overview

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is supported by a team of over 400 volunteers who devote their time, energy and skills to support patient care.  Everyday there are at least 50 volunteers helping at OSMH. These individuals contribute greatly to the hospital and they are appreciated and valued by our staff and the community.

If volunteering sounds like something you would like to do, there are a number of volunteer positions available throughout the hospital. Volunteer roles exist in the following areas:

  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Day Surgery
  • Oncology
  • Outpatient Clinic
  • Physiotherapy Reception Desk
  • Emergency Reception
  • Health Sciences Library
  • Health Records
  • Gift Shop
  • Coffee Kiosk
  • Information Desk
  • Befriender program

This is a great opportunity to give back to your community, try something different, brush up on skills and get experience for returning to work, or simply experience helping others.

What do I need to do be a volunteer?

  • Volunteers must be 14 years or older
  • Volunteers should enjoy helping others, have good verbal communication skills and must work well with others
