POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Assistant/Technician will be responsible to cover the order entry and compounding/dispensing of oral products, intravenous admixtures, Parenteral Nutrition Solutions, chemotherapy, narcotics & controlled drug, prepackaging and inventory control. The essential duties will require prolonged keyboard entry, regular/continuous telephone communication &/or fax interaction with patient care units, standing, periods of walking and some lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Pharmacy Technician (R.Ph.T) status with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (preferred) OR Graduate of a current 2 year Community/Business College Pharmacy Technician training program(preferred) OR ready to be licensed by having all bridging courses completed (required if in the experienced professional stream of regulation).

Previous Hospital experience is considered an asset.

Aseptic compounding training/experience an asset.

Unit dose dispensing of oral solids and familiarity with BDM /hospital pharmacy computerized support programs.

Satisfactory work performance and attendance record required.

The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital. Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communications skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
