OSMH hosting grand opening celebration of paediatric outpatient services

2/27/2012 12:00:00 AM

(Monday, February 27, 2012 - Orillia, ON) – Keeping children and their families together during the treatment process is the mantra for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital’s (OSMH) Maternal, Child and Youth program.

The new Harvie 3 Paediatric Clinic Area is the newest tool that will allow the staff and physicians to do just that.  On Tuesday, February 28, OSMH will celebrate the grand opening of this new unit.

“We offer eight outpatient programs, services and clinics on this new unit,” says Linda Adams, program director, Maternal, Child, Youth and Mental Health program.  “The creation of this unit will serve to enhance the experience that our patients and families have when they come to our hospital.”

The new H3 Paediatric Outpatient Services unit offers: Children’s Complex Care Navigation program; Community Asthma Clinic; Paediatric Diabetes program; Eating Disorder program; Northern Ontario Paediatric Type 2 Diabetes program; Nutrition program; Paediatric Oncology; and Regional Genetics.

“Another added benefit to these programs and services is that they aren’t just for our paediatric patients,” adds Adams. “Some of our clinics also serve adults. Clinics such as Genetics and Asthma for example serve a large adult population within our community.”

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is located in Orillia, Ontario (just 114 kilometres north of Toronto) and serves more than 440,000 residents in North Simcoe Muskoka. OSMH provides a comprehensive range of programs and services, including medical, surgical and emergency care, dialysis, obstetrical and paediatric care, oncology, complex continuing care, mental health and rehabilitation services. While it remains Orillia’s community hospital, OSMH has a new role as a regional healthcare centre. For more information please visit our website at www.osmh.on.ca.
