OSMH celebrates volunteerism at annual Appreciation Dinner

4/23/2012 12:00:00 AM

(Monday, April 23, 2012 - Orillia, ON)  Volunteers took centre stage Friday, April 20 at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner hosted by Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) at Casino Rama.

Long Service awards were presented to 29 individuals who reached milestones in the number of years they’ve been volunteering at the hospital.  At the top of the list was Una Novosky Wallace, who received a standing ovation for her 35 years of volunteerism at OSMH.  The 29 individuals honoured represent 440 years of volunteer service.

The volunteers also presented a cheque to the Foundation in the amount of $161,620, representing the money raised over the past year by volunteers through various events and sales through the Hospital Gift Shop and Coffee Kiosk.

Each year, the 400+ volunteers at OSMH contribute more than 46,000 hours of volunteer time to the hospital and the OSMH Foundation.
