(Tuesday, April 24, 2012 - Orillia, ON) – The nominating committee tasked with identifying candidates to fill the five anticipated vacancies on the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Board of Directors has released its recommendation. The list will be presented to the hospital’s corporate membership for consideration at the Annual General Meeting on June 26, 2012.

Under hospital by-laws, additional nominations can still be submitted by Members of the Corporation up to 30 days prior to the AGM.  The deadline for submissions is Sunday, May 27, 2012.  Nomination packages including eligibility requirements are available on the hospital’s website www.osmh.on.ca.

The five candidates being recommended by the committee include:

George Beatty -

Mr. Beatty is a Judge with the Ontario Court of Justice (Central East Region).

Ted Emond -

Mr. Emond is a retired Human Resources professional with over 40 years of consulting experience in the health care industry.

Greg Gee -

Mr. Gee is a retired lawyer with experience in both the public and private sector. Mr. Gee is currently a member of the OSMH Board of Directors. His initial term will expire at the 2012 AGM.

Michael McMurter -

Mr. McMurter has over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology sector including system implementation and design.

Paulette Wilson -

Ms. Wilson is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Occupational Health and Safety Nurse with over 25 years of experience in WSIB Claims Management, Program Development and Legislative Compliance.

Along with Mr. Gee, the terms of three other current directors will expire at the AGM.  Carol Nass, Roger Lippert and Bob Middaugh have all indicated they will not stand for re-election.  One-partial term left vacant by the resignation of Paul Weber in late 2011 is also up for appointment.

In considering the nominations, the committee’s goal was to balance the overall skills mix of the current Board by recommending individuals with previous Board experience, and those who also have expertise in areas such as information technology, change management, government relations and human resources/labour relations.
