Our Footprint: Leaving a Legacy of Excellence for Future Generations

5/15/2009 12:00:00 AM

(Friday, May 15, 2009 – Orillia, Ontario) – It’s difficult to imagine what Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) will look like 100 years from now.

While we can’t predict the future, we can give our successors a glimpse into the past.

On June 11, 2009, OSMH will be burying a time capsule containing significant items associated with our hospital and healthcare today. The capsule will remain sealed, only to be opened on May 28, 2108 – the hospital’s 200th birthday.

What would you put in the time capsule to give people in the future a sense of what the hospital is like today?

We are looking for items and suggested content to place inside. It may be a letter, photograph, article, or other item that describes present services, practices and procedures at OSMH; as well these items may reflect the administrative and technological side of our organization.

If you have an item you would like to see placed inside our capsule (keep in mind that the cylindrical capsule is only 2.5 feet high and 12 inches in diameter), please forward your item along with a written explanation of its purpose, to:

We will only select the items we feel best describe our commitment to excellence and the care that we provide to our community. Any items not placed inside the time capsule will be replaced to the individuals who donated them. Items must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2009.
