Hospital raffle winner selects ATV and Seadoo as grand prizes

6/18/2009 12:00:00 AM

(Thursday, June 18, 2009 – Orillia, ON) –  It was a tough decision but Madonna Gray of Orillia has now confirmed the ATV and Seadoo as her choices as Grand Prize winner of the 3rd Annual Hospital Raffle presented by McLean & Dickey drawn June 3 at the Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic golf tournament.

As the top prize winner, Madonna had the enviable task of selecting any combination of two 2010 Skidoo GSX – 550F sport, a 2009 Can-Am Outlander 400 ATV, or a 2009 Seadoo GTI-130.  The prizes were generously donated by Aviva Canada Inc., MD Marine Insurance and Leatherdale Marine.

“I’ve always wanted a Seadoo and we have a farm up north where the ATV will definitely come in handy,” said Gray, who works in the long-term care industry and purchased a book of 15 tickets to support the hospital.  Included with the grand prize is a 2009 Custom Triton Trailer.

While Gray had two prizes to select, she wasn’t the only winner seeing double. David Solski of Sebright, Ontario won both the second and fourth prizes on two separate tickets. Solski took home a Whole Home outdoor living room set courtesy of Peel Mutual Insurance Company and Sears, and a Cuisinart cookware set courtesy of Home Hardware.

The 3rd place prize of a Samsung 42-inch High Definition TV, courtesy of Leon’s Orillia, went to Dave Henderson of Cumberland Beach, Ontario.

“In just three years, the hospital raffle has grown in popularity and been a great addition to the excitement already generated by the golf tournament,” said Danielle Tisi of McLean & Dickey, presenting sponsor of the raffle.  “This is the first time we’ve given the grand prize winner the option of selecting their prizes which adds a unique element to the draw.”

Raffle and Golf Tournament raise $100,000 for hospital

In total, the 12th annual Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic and the raffle helped raise just over $100,000 in support of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

“Two years ago, the tournament surpassed the million dollar mark in cumulative money raised since the tournament debuted and we’re excited to continue to build on that enthusiasm with an additional $100,000 that will go towards the equipment needs of the hospital,” said Nicole McCahon, Executive Director of the OSMH Foundation.

Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation is a proud partner of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and the people of Orillia and North Simcoe/Muskoka. The foundation provides funds to the hospital to buy medical equipment, sustain programs and assist the hospital in maintaining its position as a leader in providing quality community based healthcare.
