9/9/2010 12:00:00 AM

(Thursday, September 9, 2010 – Orillia, ON)   Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) announced today the appointment of Angela Harwood to the position of Vice President, People, Planning and Partnerships effective September 2010.

The full-time OSMH position of VP-People, Planning and Partnerships is a new title but not a new position for our organization. The new title speaks directly to the critical role Harwood will play for OSMH as part of the senior management team. She will provide senior leadership in human resources in support of our most precious resource: people.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Angela to the team. Her vast experience in human resources and senior management will be a tremendous asset to this organization now and into the future,” said Elisabeth Riley, OSMH President and CEO. “Her appointment to this position reinforces our commitment to creating a healthy workplace and attracting and retaining a highly talented group of healthcare professionals and support staff.”

In addition, Harwood will lead our targeted efforts surrounding strategic planning, establishment of recruitment and retention strategies, as well as organizational development and partnership development.

Harwood joins us from Alberta Health Services in Edmonton where she held the position of Vice President, Talent Management, Organizational Development and Total Rewards for a number of years. Prior to moving to Alberta, Harwood was the Director of Human Resources at the Capital District Health Authority in Halifax, where she began her healthcare career as a dietician.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Arts (Education) Degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, and has a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Queen’s University in Kingston. Harwood is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP).

Harwood takes over from Ted Capstick, who became the Acting VP Human Resources after the departure of Mary Silverthorn from the Integrated VP Human Resources position in May 2009.
