Four positions to fill on OSMH Board of Directors – Nominations close March 1

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

(Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - Orillia, ON) – There will be a minimum of four positions to fill on the OSMH Board of Directors when the hospital holds its annual general meeting (AGM) on June 28, 2011.

There is a nomination deadline of 4 p.m. on March 1, 2011 for individuals to be considered by the Nominating Committee of the Board. This deadline is earlier than in past years to allow the Committee to complete its process and report its recommended nominees at the Board’s regular meeting on March 29.

This will give the general membership of the Hospital Corporation approximately two months to consider if they wish to submit additional nominees, which, under hospital by-laws, can be done up to 30 days prior to the AGM.  The deadline for those submissions is May 28, 2011.

The Hospital Bylaws and nomination packages including eligibility requirements are available on our website, under Director Nomination Package, or by contacting Nicky Marchant at nlmarchant@osmh.on.ca or (705) 325-2201, ext. 3203.

The terms of four (4) current directors will expire at the AGM with one director, Tony Katarynych, indicating he will be seeking another term.  The other three directors, Connie Davidson, Gord Michener and Cliff Whitfield have indicated they will not stand for re-election. OSMH is grateful for their important contributions during their time as Directors.

While all eligible applicants will be given consideration, an effort will be made to balance the overall skills mix of the current Board by recommending individuals with previous Board experience, and who also have expertise in one or more areas such as Board governance, finance, legal, information technology, risk management, or facilities redevelopment.
