Four new directors elected to OSMH Board

Thursday, June 30, 2011

(Thursday, June 30, 2011 - Orillia, ON) – Al Scott, Ted Sasaki and Paul Weber are the newest members of the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Board of Directors following elections during the organization’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) Tuesday evening.

Scott, Sasaki and Weber captured three of the four vacancies while incumbent Tony Katarynych was successful in his re-election bid as approved by members of the hospital corporation.

“I’m excited to be able to contribute my skills to serving a hospital that means so much to the people of Orillia,” said Scott, a longtime Orillia resident who is currently a program and financial analyst with the Ontario Provincial Police.

Katarynych, Scott, Sasaki and Weber also have strong commitment to our community and a strong desire to give back to our hospital.

“Everyday walking the hallways at the hospital I witness the high quality care that is delivered”, says Sasaki, who is also a volunteer porter at the hospital. “It is the comments that I hear from patients and visitors that solidify our commitment to keeping our community healthy. I am proud to be able to expand my volunteer skills in order to make a significant contribution to the future of our hospital.”

Immediately following the AGM, the new Board met to elect its Executive with John Cameron, maintaining his role as Chair.

“I’m honoured to be able to continue in my capacity as Chair,” said Cameron. “I am starting my fifth year on this board, and really looking forward to continuing on the path of success we have had over the last few years.”

In addition to Cameron, Paul Leskew and Gregory Gee will continue their roles as First Vice-Chair and Treasurer and Second Vice-Chair respectively, and Elisabeth Riley as Secretary of the Board in her capacity as President and CEO.

There are also changes to the medical representatives on the Board that reflect the changes to the Executive of the Medical Staff Association (MSA). Dr. Nick Bauman, President, will represent their association on the OSMH Board.
