Nominating committee releases list of recommended candidates to fill OSMH Board vacancies

(Monday, April 8, 2013- Orillia, ON) – The nominating committee tasked with identifying candidates to fill the four anticipated vacancies on the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Board of Directors has released its recommendation. The list will be presented to the hospital’s corporate membership for consideration at the Annual General Meeting on June 25, 2013.

 

Under hospital by-laws, additional nominations can still be submitted by Members of the Corporation up to 30 days prior to the AGM.  The deadline for submissions is Sunday, May 26, 2013.  Nomination packages including eligibility requirements are available here

 

The four candidates being recommended by the committee include:

 

Jacques Boulet -

Jacques Boulet grew up in Winnipeg and now lives in Warminster. His recent occupations include CEO, Financial Coach and Financial Adviser. He is an experienced Director and has strong accounting, business management, governance, quality and performance management and strategic planning skills.

Ken Brownlee -

A member of the Board since 2010, Ken is seeking re-election for a second term.  He is currently the Chair of the Quality and Safety Committee and a member of the Resources Committee. Ken brings extensive business management experience from leading companies as a CEO/COO.  He has previous public sector Director experience and demonstrated skills in strategy development, finance and performance improvement.

Jeffrey French -

A member of the Board since June 2010, Jeff is seeking re-election for a second term.  Jeff is a member of the Governance and Resources Committees.  He is currently Second Vice Chair of the Board.  Jeff brings extensive experience in Finance and Marketing. 

Paul Leskew -

A member of the Board since June 2007, Paul is seeking re-election for a third term.  Paul is currently the chair of the Resources Committee and sits on the Audit Committee. He is currently First Vice Chair of the Board.  Paul brings an extensive business background, is a Chartered Accountant, and has extensive governance experience.

 

Brownlee, French and Leskew are all existing Board members whose current terms expire at the AGM and are seeking re-election.   The term of fellow Board member John Cameron, Chair from 2010-2012, also expires at the AGM although he will not seek re-election.

 

In considering the nominations, the committee’s goal was to balance the overall skills mix of the current Board by recommending individuals with previous Board experience, and those who also have expertise in areas such as information technology, change management, public affairs and communications, quality and patient safety management, finance, and patient and health care advocacy

 

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is located in Orillia, Ontario (just 114 kilometres north of Toronto) and serves more than 440,000 residents in North Simcoe Muskoka. OSMH provides a comprehensive range of programs and services, including medical, surgical and emergency care, dialysis, obstetrical and paediatric care, oncology, complex continuing care, mental health and rehabilitation services.
