McHappy Day to benefit the NICU renovation at OSMH

5/2/2016 12:00:00 AM

(Monday, May 2, 2016—Orillia, ON)- Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) will once again benefit from the proceeds of McHappy Day on May 4th. One-dollar from every Big Mac®, Happy Meal® and Hot McCafé® beverage sold at Orillia and Beaverton McDonald’s restaurants will support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) renovation at OSMH and Ronald McDonald Houses.

The NICU renovation and equipment upgrades are necessary to ensure quality care for the most vulnerable patients at OSMH. The last major renovation of this unit was over 30 years ago, and more space is needed for both families and healthcare providers. The renovation will see the NICU more than double in size, from 955 square-feet to 2,200 square feet. Essential equipment will also be replaced, including incubators, ventilators and cardiac monitors.

“We are extremely grateful for the continued support of McDonald’s,” said Nicole McCahon, Executive Director, OSMH Foundation. “The proceeds from McHappy Day will make a big difference in the quality of patient care at our hospital.”

McDonald’s restaurants in Orillia and Beaverton have a strong history of supporting OSMH, with total lifetime giving reaching almost $80,000. Last year, more than $10,000 was raised for the hospital on McHappy Day. Once again, local community members, including hospital staff, leaders and politicians, will help pitch in to make the day a success.

“It’s important for us to support our local hospital,” said Roy Pearn, owner of McDonald’s restaurants in Orillia and Beaverton. “We want to make sure that Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital can continue providing the quality care we’ve come to expect, close to home.”

Please join us at one of these four McDonald’s locations in Orillia and Beaverton on May 4th: Walmart, Murphy Road/HWY 12, Memorial Avenue and Beaverton/HWY 12. You can help make a difference closer to home!
