More than $85,000 raised at Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic

6/2/2016 12:00:00 AM

(Thursday, June 2, 2016 – Orillia, ON) – The 19th Annual Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic raised more than $85,000 in support of the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) renovations. The funds were raised through ticket sales, sponsorship and a live and silent auction.

“The Hospital Classic was once again an incredible success thanks to our sponsors, donors and attendees,” said John Cameron, Board Chair, OSMH Foundation. “It was great to see the Orillia community come out and raise funds for such an important cause.”

Construction of the NICU begins this month, and renovations are anticipated to be complete by January, 2017. The $2.7-million project will see the NICU more than double in size from 955 square-feet to 2,200 square-feet. Essential equipment will also be replaced, including incubators, ventilators and cardiac monitors.

“Raising funds for projects such as the NICU renovation is all about providing better care to some of our most vulnerable patients,” explained Nicole McCahon, Executive Director, OSMH Foundation. “We can’t thank the community enough for their continued support of this staple event.”

Since it began in 1997, the Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic has raised over $1.9-million for OSMH. It is still one of the largest tournaments in the Orillia area, and the most successful fundraiser for OSMH.
