Orillia Lions Club donates $10,000 for hospital EMR project
4/13/2016 12:00:00 AM
(Wednesday, April 13, 2016—Orillia,
ON)- The Orillia Lions Club is investing in local healthcare through a
$10,000 donation to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). The
donation will go towards the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
project.
"We chose to support the Electronic Medical Project
because it impacts everyone at the hospital,” said long time Orillia
Lions Club member, Alan Smale. “It will help improve service to
patients, save the doctors time and reduce the potential for error.”
Scheduled to Go Live in early June, the EMR will replace
most of the manual systems currently used for gathering, sharing and
storing patient information. Fundraising for the multi-year,
multi-million dollar project began in 2014.
“This donation
further demonstrates the Orillia Lions ongoing support to our hospital
and community,” said Nicole McCahon, Executive Director, OSMH
Foundation. “With the help of our community supporters, events,
responses from direct mail and major gifts, we are able to implement a
new system that will dramatically improve the quality of care we provide
at our hospital.”
The Orillia Lions Club has a strong history
of supporting the hospital, with total giving reaching more than
$175,000. Their most significant contribution was a $75,000 donation
towards building the hospital’s community tower.
