5/5/2016 12:00:00 AM

(Thursday, May 5, 2016—Orillia, ON)- Over $13,000 was raised for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) on McHappy Day. The funds will go directly towards the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) renovations at OSMH.

“The timing is perfect,” said Dr. Michelle Gordon, Chief of Neonatal and Paediatrics at OSMH. “We are just putting the final pieces in place to temporarily relocate our paediatric services to our Harvie 4 unit, which will allow construction to begin later this year.”

The upcoming $3-million dollar renovations will more than double the current space of the NICU. Equipment will also be replaced including incubators, ventilators and cardiac monitors.

“Giving back is what this day is all about,” said Roy Pearn, owner of the four McDonald’s restaurants in Orillia and Beaverton. “The community’s generosity is what makes it such a big success, year after year.”

Between the three McDonald’s in Orillia, and one in Beaverton, $26,000 was raised. Half the funds will be donated to OSMH, and the other half will support Ronald McDonald House Charities across Canada.
