Orillia Power Corporation (OPC) has fulfilled a $1.25-million pledge to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). The funds were designated towards improving the health and safety of patients at the hospital.

“The Orillia Power Corporation is a longstanding supporter of the hospital, and we are extremely grateful for their commitment to improving patient care,” said Nicole McCahon, Executive Director, OSMH Foundation. “Thanks to their significant contribution, we have been able to purchase vital equipment, and plan for the renovation of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”

OPC is able to draw money for charitable donations from the revenue raised generating and distributing electricity in the Orillia area. The pledge was fulfilled over a five a year period.

“A healthy hospital means a healthy community,” said OPC President, Keith McAllister. “Health and safety is a top priority for OPC, and we knew supporting the hospital would go a long way in improving the lives of everyone in the Orillia region.”

OPC has a strong history of supporting the hospital, with total giving reaching more than $3.5-million. In past years, the organization has supported the building of the hospital’s community tower with another $1.25-million donation.
