• How do I get to your hospital and is there parking available?

  Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is located at 170 Colborne Street West, Orillia, ON L3V 2Z3. Click here to access a map and driving directions.

   

  When you get to the hospital we have a visitor parking lot, located off Dunlop Street. The daily parking rate is $5. Special arrangements can be made for patients/visitors to purchase a monthly parking pass.

• What are your visiting hours and are there restrictions for visiting?

  Visiting hours at OSMH are from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. only. We allow a maximum of two (2) visitors per patient at a time. Certain exceptions to the visitor policy are made for surgical, obstetric and paediatric patients. You will need to pick up a visitor card at the Information Desk in the main lobby and return it when your visit is over.

   

  Except for quick visits to immediate family, children under 12 should not visit. Also, never visit a patient in the hospital if you are feeling unwell yourself.

• What is the discharge time at your hospital?

  If and when your condition permits, your attending physician will let you know when you may be able to leave the hospital. The normal discharge time is 11:00 a.m. If you are being discharged, please make sure you have arranged for a family member or friend to drive you home at the required discharge time so that another patient requiring a bed can be accommodated.

• How do I contact a patient in the hospital?

• Who do I contact about volunteer opportunities?

  OSMH welcomes all those in the community who are interested in volunteering. Please visit the Volunteers section of our website for more information on volunteer opportunities and how to apply.

• Who do I contact about current job opportunities?

  The Human Resources department at OSMH handles all information regarding career opportunities. To view a list of current employment opportunities please visit the Careers section of our website where you will find information on how to send us your resume.

• How do I send flowers or gifts to a patient?

  Flowers and gift items received at OSMH will be delivered to the patient care unit by our hospital volunteers. Please note that we cannot forward or re-deliver gift or floral items to a patient once they have been discharged from OSMH. Please ensure your gift recipient is still at our hospital before arranging delivery.
  
  In addition, for the protection of patients, staff and visitors who may have a latex sensitivity/allergy, OSMH does not permit latex products to be brought into our hospital. Latex balloons also create a safety risk to children should a piece accidentally be inhaled. Foil balloons are an acceptable alternative to latex balloons.

• How do I make a donation?

  There are many ways to support your community hospital or make a donation to the OSMH Foundation, including making a safe and secure online donation. For additional information, please contact the OSMH Foundation at (705) 325-6464.

• Do you have a cafeteria or restaurant?

  OSMH offers two options for patients, staff and visitors to purchase food and beverage items. The first is the volunteer gift shop. Located in the main lobby the gift shop offers coffee, tea, drinks, soups, sandwiches, and baked goods at reasonable prices. Gift shop hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

   

  The cafeteria, located on the main floor of the hospital, offers a variety of hot meals, sandwiches and snacks and is open to the public during regular hours, which are: Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

• Do you have a bank machine in the hospital?

  A bank machine is located just inside the main entrance of the hospital. There is a service charge of $1.50 to use the machine.

• Who do I contact if I have a complaint?

  OSMH is always striving to provide excellent care to our patients. In order for us to do this, we would like to hear your experiences and feedback, whether good or bad. When we are made aware of mistakes or disappointment with our level of care, our healthcare team can work to implement changes that will allow us to improve our level of care to our community and region.

• Is there wheelchair access and can I get a wheelchair at check-in?

  Our volunteers make every effort to ensure a wheelchair is available at the main entrance to the hospital. Should you arrive and none are available, please speak to the Information Desk, located in the main lobby of the hospital. 
  
  If you need assistance in transferring in and out of your car or to/from an appointment within the hospital, you can request escort assistance at the Information Desk in the main lobby.

• What happens if I don’t have a provincial health card?

  If you are not insured under a Canadian hospital insurance plan, you are required to pay for your care. OSMH accepts all major credit cards and debit cards. You will be asked to provide a credit card at the Emergency Department registration desk. If you have travel insurance, the hospital will provide an official receipt which you can use for reimbursement through your travel company.

• How do I access my medical records?

  If you would like to request a copy of your medical record, you must call the Health Records department at OSMH between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, at (705) 325-2201 ext.3513.

• How do I get to the Foundation?

  The OSMH Foundation is located at 150 Mississaga Street West. Just across the street from our visitor parking lot.
