If you are successful in joining our team, your employment is conditional a completed Employee Health Assessment and Proof of Immunity Records. The completion of these documents is necessary for the protection of our patients, team members and a legal requirement under the Public Hospital Act. We recommend making an appointment with your family physician and/or public health (for medical/immunization records) to ensure you can be cleared to start your employment with OSMH as offered. Our Occupational Health & Safety Team can support you with N95 Testing and TB Testing. Your start date is subject to change based on clearance from our Occupational Health & Safety Team.

Simulation Lab Learning Opportunities

OSMH is committed to professional development and providing a learning experience that closely aligns with the clinical settings. The newly renovated Simulation Lab replicates a patient room and offers state of the art equipment including a variety of high-fidelity mannequins and video recording options. The adjacent classroom hosts the Simulation Command Centre where training sessions can be viewed in real-time or view previously recorded sessions on the large screen television. The Simulation Lab is a safe learning environment where Healthcare Providers can practice new skills and manage crises. Improving patient safety and experience with “hands on” education with a wide variety of simulation equipment that can recreate patient care in any area of the hospital.

Become a Volunteer

Soldiers’ is supported by a team of over 300 volunteers who devote their time, energy and skills to support patient care. These individuals contribute greatly to the hospital and they are appreciated and valued by our staff and the community. If volunteering sounds like something you would like to do, there are a number of volunteer positions available throughout the hospital. Volunteer roles exist in the following areas:

  • Outpatient Clinic

  • Regional Kidney Care Program Simcoe-Muskoka

What do I need to do be a volunteer?

  • A commitment of six months, one shift per week is required.
  • High school students interested in volunteering must be entering grade 11 and must be 15 years of age or older
  • Volunteers should enjoy meeting new people, have good verbal communication skills and must work well with others
  • Current Police Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, within the last twelve (12) months
  • Two Step TB Test

We work hard to foster a unique practice and work culture built on community, teamwork and leadership.

We have physician opportunities available in a range of disciplines.

For family physician candidates, opportunities are available in two comprehensive family medicine practices – the Orillia Family Health Network (FHN) and the Couchiching Family Health Team (FHT). The FHN and the FHT offer furnished office space with full secretarial and administrative support and excellent patient population for new physicians. Practice options include community practice, work alone or combined with in-hospital activities such as emergency, obstetrics, hospitalist, and surgical assisting. There may also be locum opportunities available in Family Medicine.

Medical Trainees

Through the Rural Ontario Medical Program we provide core and elective rotations with one-on-one learning situations with physician preceptors for medical students, clinical clerks and residents from Ontario’s medical universities. We also provide learner placements for midwifery students and Physician Assistant students.
