Cancer Care

Soldiers’ is committed to providing safe, high quality and standardized chemotherapy cancer care to patients, and to meet the service delivery guidelines established by Cancer Care Ontario

Cancer Care at Soldiers’

The service is provided in a compassionate, pleasant environment by Registered Nurses who are experienced and certified as Oncology Nurses.

The cancer treatment program at OSMH was established in 1983 and provides chemotherapy, prevention and screening activities and pre and post care. Additional cancer services include pump disconnects, hydration and blood transfusions, support services and procedures such as imaging, laboratory and surgery.

In July 2012, the OSMH Board approved a plan that would establish the OSMH Cancer Clinic as a Satellite of the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre (SMRCC) by November 2014. Patients needing chemotherapy are initially referred by their physician to the Royal Victoria Regional Hospital Cancer Centre in Barrie. After your initial assessment with an Oncologist, will be offered Systemic Chemotherapy and/or ongoing Supportive Oncology Care closer to your home. Please ask you Oncologist for details.

Cancer services expand beyond chemotherapy and include diagnostic services, interventional procedures and surgical services when indicated.
