Other Services

For the hearing impaired

To ensure clear communication between patients, families and staff, we have a list of staff and volunteers who can interpret different languages. Pocket Talkers are also available. If you need this service, please ask your nurse to arrange for this service.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at OSMH. For infection prevention and control reasons, the service animal must remain with their owner at all times. A certificate confirming that the animal has been trained by a professional service animal institution and an up-to-date vaccine certificate may be required.

Aboriginal Liaison Officer

Developed in cooperation with Rama First Nation, OSMH has an individual who acts as our Aboriginal Liaison Officer to help advocate our indigenous patients and their families. A healing place or smudge room is in the process of planning and it will be available as sacred space for people of all faiths to be able to pray, smudge or just be still and quiet for a period of time. If you need assistance with an issue, please feel free to contact 3365.
