Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Adopts Seasonal Masking Strategy
(Orillia, ON) – Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is adopting a seasonal approach to masking requirements, prioritizing the safety of our staff, patients, and caregivers in the prevention of respiratory illnesses.
As we enter periods marked by more predictable respiratory illness patterns, OSMH will tailor masking precautions to match the level of transmission risk. As such, we will transition to a seasonal pattern for precautions.
Starting Wednesday May 1st, in most public spaces within the hospital, including nursing stations, hallways, offices and the cafeteria masking will be optional.
Masks will remain mandatory in ambulatory care waiting areas, such as the Emergency, Outpatient and Diagnostic Imaging departments, and whenever receiving or providing direct patient care.
Visitors will still be required to wear masks when at the bedside to ensure the protection of their loved ones.
Masking requirements will be reassessed and adjusted in the Fall as we get back into respiratory season.
OSMH maintains a mask-friendly environment and will adapt masking precautions as needed, particularly in response to outbreaks and other relevant considerations.
