OSMH gradually easing Visitor Policy

(February 22, 2022 – Orillia, ON) –   Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) has taken the first step toward easing visiting restrictions with minor modifications to its Essential Visitor Policy effective today.

In most circumstances, patients with an expected stay greater than 7 days are permitted an essential visitor, or designated alternate visitor, daily for up to 4 hours per day.  Visitors must pre-register in advance and consideration is based on patient needs and approval by the care team.

Visitors must follow all the necessary COVID-19 precautions such as being screened at the main entrance, showing proof of full vaccination, wearing a hospital mask and Essential Visitor identification badge, maintaining physical distancing throughout their visit, and signing in and out of the hospital.   In and out privileges are only considered on compassionate grounds.

Restrictions remain in place for the Emergency Department and other outpatient care areas where visiting is at the discretion of the care team and in considering individual patient needs.

Visiting restrictions are subject to change and will continue to be closely monitored in conjunction with provincial guidelines, community transmission and other considerations.
