OSMH wants you on its Patient and Family Advisory Council

If you’ve been a patient or the family member of a patient at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) anytime over the past 4 years, the hospital would like you to consider joining its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) as a Patient/Family Advisor.

Designed to ensure the patient perspective is understood and actively considered, the OSMH PFAC meets every second month to provide input on a wide variety of hospital activities or projects.

“The patient voice is a valuable resource that hospitals are tapping into more frequently to help us to improve quality by considering how our processes are experienced by patients,” said Terry Dyni, OSMH Director of Community Relations.

“Over the past few years the OSMH PFAC has influenced everything from patient food choices to the hiring of our current President and CEO.”

Anyone interested in joining the Council or gathering more information is invited to contact Tracy Huggins (705) 325-2201, Ext. 3239, TLHuggins@osmh.on.ca. Information is also available at www.osmh.on.ca under the Patients and Families section, via the tab entitled Patient and Family Advisory Council.

The OSMH PFAC consists of up to 20 members with 12 Patient/Family Advisors and 8 OSMH staff, and meets a minimum of five times per year. In addition to attending PFAC meetings, Patient/Family Advisors also have the opportunity to participate in specific hospital initiatives or projects to provide a patient perspective.
